EMDR SESSION INFO

The who, what, where, how of EMDR sessions.

EMDR is a process. Learning it’s terms and it’s flow is part of the Phases. If the terms or talk of the phases feel at all overwhelming, know that part of my job is to teach and help you gain comfort with the terminology and steps. In just a few sessions you will know what to expect in each session and be able to use the Resourcing skills at anytime.

PHASES

EMDR follows an 8 phase model. The work begins with your past and recent experiences (History, Planning, Preparation, & Resourcing ) and ends with resolution (Closure and Re-evaluation). The phases provide a path and structure to the therapeutic work.

PLATFORM

The beauty of technology makes EMDR online, not only possible, but the RemotEMDR platform is specially developed just for this purpose.

Visit the Resources page here for a link to a demo video about RemotEMDR and more info about EMDR.

PROCESS

Sessions are 65 minutes. After the initial Phases, every session we will focus in on a target. You may come to a session with a target in mind or we will identify our focus for the session. We will engage in Resourcing and narrow in on a focus for the session (Target Identification). We will engage in sets of eye movements, the DR (Desensitization and Re-Processing)of EMDR, and then end with Resourcing to soothe the mind, body and nervous system.

PREPARATION

Beginning EMDR starts with a thorough screening process that covers readiness, logistics, resourcing, current issues, and history. Typically, there are 3-6 six sessions before beginning actual EMDR with bi-lateral eye movements and re-processing.

These initial sessions are part of the EMDR Phases- History, Planning, Preparation, & Resourcing.

PAYMENT

Session rate: $125

A secure billing platform allows for easy processing of Health Savings Account cards and credit/debit cards.

Insurance billing is not part of my practice. Sessions are billed and processed at the time of service.

INITIAL CONSULTATION

Starting EMDR is an informed choice.

If you feel ready to learn more and see if working together feels like a good fit, let’s begin by meeting for a 20-30 minute consultation.

Consultations are offered at no cost.

Consultation provides a space to learn more about EMDR, discuss the logistics of working together, and for me to learn more about you & why EMDR feels like it might be right, right now.

“EMDR therapy targets the unprocessed memories that contain negative emotions, sensations and beliefs.

In the EMDR process what is useful is learned, what’s useless is discarded, and the memory is now stored in a way that is no longer damaging.”

-Dr. Francine Shapiro, EMDR Creator
